Non Profit Peer to Peer Lending Service – P2P Loans for Private Lenders and Borrowers

So we have just done a soft launch of our own peer to peer lending service. This took allot of setup time of course because security and guidelines had to be carefully constructed so that ALL borrowers and lenders can clearly understand the process of lending and borrowing safely.

This includes a reporting system so that we can be alerted of “bad behavior”. We will be working diligently over the the months and year to make our non-profit peer to peer (P2P Loans) lending service a secure and safe place for users to make loan agreements and conduct business in a perfectly safe web environment.

What Makes the CLF Peer to Peer Lending Service New and Different or Unique?

  1. Well, the most important factor is that it’s actually a non-profit system, in that we at CLF do not take a cut of the money exchanged, unlike Prosper.com, Zopa.com, Fynanz.com, and GreenNote.com (student loans). The deals worked out between lenders and borrowers is completely private and confidential. We simply provide the meeting place. We do not charge a fee to use our service – in any form.
  2. Loans are not provided by multiple lenders who pool monies. These are direct loans whereby the full amount of the loan is provided to the borrower from a single lender.

Money transfers and repayment methods are optional for both parties – read the list of the typical money transferring methods that can be used.

How the CLF Non-Profit P2P Lending Web Site Works

We allow users to register and join the forum to take part in conversations, or simply browse and read to learn. If they choose to become a lender, or a borrower, they can use our simple guidelines to proceed.

Here is how a typical loan gets requested, negotiated and approved;

  • the borrower requests a loan in the appropriate lending product forum, WITHOUT divulging their personal information, email, phone number(s), or address. This information is ONLY provided in the PRIVATE personal messaging area, between lenders and borrowers. We remind all borrowers to protect their identity, financial information, social insurance numbers, phone numbers, and emails.
  • the lender sends a private personal message to the borrower to start the communication (100% private)
  • the lender and/or borrower can request a video interview with the borrower using Skype
  • IF the borrower and lender are both comfortable enough to do business with one another, the lender can then initiate their offer and negotiate the terms of the loan
  • the lender can ask for verification documents, and a recent credit check, to qualify the borrower
  • the lender can then send the money to the borrower, transferring the funds using the method THEY choose
  • repayment can be managed with online payment systems that can schedule installments (such as Paypal subscriptions) monthly, biweekly, etc., depending on the agreed upon terms of the lender/borrower loan agreement.

What We Don’t Allow on the CLF P2P Lending Forum

  • We don’t allow lenders who ask for up-front fees from borrowers – we have a reporting system in place to track this behavior
  • We don’t allow personal information to be used in the public forums, except perhaps the users’ names.

Can People with Bad Credit Scores Get Approved for Loans in Our P2P Forum?

Yes. Borrowers with bad credit can request a loan, and higher risk lenders can contact them with their offers. Of course the APR on a bad credit loan will be higher than normal, but no higher than the legal limit stipulated by the laws in the borrower’s Country, State, Province, etc.

My name is Angie, and i’m currently a Full Time Student with a Part time job. I have made a few mistakes in my past and have damaged my credit, however, i would really like to pay off my debt and try to repair my credit. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find anyone who will lend me money. I’m requesting a $4500 loan, which could pay off ALL of the previous debt that i owe. Although I only work part time and only make $825 a month I currently have NO bills to pay and no expenses, I live with my parents so no rent, and no expenses, nor credit cards, or cellphone bills or any kind of bill. So I basically have up to $800 a month to pay each installment of the loan. I would be wiling to pay a higher interest rate because of my bad credit. My ideal bi-weekly payment would be $100-$150 or monthly payment of $230-$320, whichever is more convienient for the lender, however i’d pay up to $500 a month if necessary. If i could get the loan by March that would be a blessing. If anyone reads this i urge you to allow me the chance to repair my life and get it back on track. Thank You!

I am a single mom of 4 children. I was married for 17 years in what I thought was a good marriage. It turns out that he had a double life. He pretty much gambled our life away before I was even aware. He was laid off and I was working 60 to 80 hours a week to support our family and during that time he went through everything we owned. He lost our house, emptied out bank accounts (including our children’s accounts). He opended credit cards in my name, etc. All of which I have been stuck with. I have paid some but have been disputing many. I have paid my rent on time for years. I have paid my car loan on time for almost three years. My credit report and score look terrible with many outstanding balances. So, I cannot get any credit. I need approximately $3500 to pay off bills and repair my car. I have worked consistently my entire adult life and have never had gap in employment. I am a registered nurse so employment is never an issue. I have been with the same company now for 4 1/2 years. I love my job and am do not plan to leave anytime soon. I can afford and would appreciate so greatly if I could be given the chance at a personal loan. I would defintely pay the loan. I know you cannot take someone’s word, but at this point that is all I have. Please consider. Thank you! I live in Pennsylvania.

    Richard Chusid Says:

Okay, I’m not the world’s greatest money manager. I sent three children through college, borrowing a lot of it in the expectation that the overtime at GM would let me repay it. Well, GM retired me instead, so I left owing over 50K. Actually, that is not the problem (I am with Garden State financial, and will have that paid off in five years.) The problem is that in the last two years, some emergencies between the car and my grand-daughter’s health care led me to write NSF checks; to avoid cascading NSF fees, I turned to payday lenders, and cannot get out from under. Currently owe $2500 and paying nearly $400 a month in fees.
Current net income (between pension and job) is $3500; have been employed for two years since retirement. (Wife makes additional $1500/ month; that’s how we can deal with Garden State). Offering 30% APR for two years (approx. $135/mo); have PayPal to send payments if desired. It would be nice to have the money paying this off, instead of renewing every month.

    Richard Chusid Says:

Sorry, I also forgot – I live in Michigan. The last time I checked my credit score, the Experian was 420; apparently, even after a year on Garden State, with regular on-time payments, it’s still there, and will stay low until all paid back.

    Hello,

First I want to say that I respect what it is that you do. Here is my situation.

I’m a military man, that would like to consolidate a lot of stuff. I make my payments on time, every month, and have for 10 straight years. I have a 719 fico score on experian, 709 on the other two. I check it every day. I have a high limit credit card, that I spent money on my house to fix up. Unfortunatly, due to the economy, I don’t have the equity that I should. My Mom is looking to do a reverse mortgage. Unfortunatly, she can’t do it, because she lives in a pre-manufactured home that is over 25 years old. She was told that she is unable to do a reverse mortgage. She has about 100k in equity. So, she would like to sell it to me, I can pay off my debt, and make her payments, which would be significantly less than my current payments, and I would make her mortgage payment for the rest of her life. Break down is as follows:

    140K owed on home.
    248K appraisal
1500 mortgage payment at 6% for 30 years.

I currently have two payments, my truck, and one credit card where I pay more than that.

I’m trying to take care of my mom. Her husband was just laid off, and she works as an RV sales rep, and she’s getting up there too.

This gives me a fresh start too.

So here’s the deal. I need 80K to pay off debt. It should bump my score to almost 800. I will be able to buy the house no problem. However, to secure this, keep in mind I’m in the military. I am legally obligated to repay any debt. One missed payment, and you can contact my command, and they will pull the payment directly out of my check. I also hold a TS SCI clearance, which is worth more than 80K. I am willing to pay 10% over a 6 year repayment term. I would also like to have the option to pay it back with no prepayment penalties. According to my calculations, my payment would be 1482 per month for six years at 10%. I can set up an allotment out of my check, so the payment will be there every month on the first. Thank you for taking the time to read my request.

I am in need of $3000-5000 for legal fees for child custody case – I am a single mother of 4 children. My ex is continually taking me to court trying to get my children and I have a lawyer who is very patient as this has been going on for 5 years but now she is asking for some more money for legal fees – I owe her over $20,000 but she is willing to take a small payment to continue with my case. I have an excellent job which I have been at for 7 1/2 years, I make good money, but have run into hard times considering the legal fees that have been racking up – I am about to go in foreclosure and have medical bills. I am willing to pay a high interest rate considering my bad credit rating but I really need this loan very quickly – within the next couple days – so that at our upcoming custody court date I will have my lawyer there. Please can someone help me or point me in the right direction? All I have seen so far are scams wanting very high upfront fees and no real way of contacting them except through email – I don’t trust that at all – “red flag”.

I am in need of $7,000 to consolidate small loans. I am a government employee that would like to consolidate several accounts. I have been working as a federal employee for 25 years and plan to work many more years. I am divorced and until a month ago, I was the guardian for two children whom I cared for approx 5 years. Due to raising these two children “as the sole provider” I incurred unexpected medical bills, and living expenses for them. The children are now back with one of the parents and I am at a point where I can take care of myself and want to be able to pay off some small accounts so that I can make one single payment. Thank you.

    Good Afternoon,
    I’m from Missouri.
I am looking for start up funds for a Energy Efficency business. I’ve already ordered and locked in my showroom material, reserved the office location, interviewed 17 employees, became insured, bonded and incorporated, and our website is being developed. Trust me I have been turned down by 12 banks this week because I haven’t been in business for two years and because my mother who is a active drug addict has used my SSN# & taken out credit cards and set me up for failure. I’m not giving excuses or trying to justify, because I realize that’s life. Paul I have been told 18 times in this last week that I wont make it or I can’t make it, and I promise you I will make it. I have already got contracts from two commercial companies that are going to be building in Columbia in October and November and are using the energy efficient products that will be showcased at Alton Innovations and will have them installed by my employees. One contract is for $113,890.00 & the other is $54,235.50. I understand that you or your lenders may not want to mess with my loan, but if not could you please point me in the rite direction. I know it’s all a process but the finding a loan or funding issue is killing me. I mean I would even pay the loan back as quick as 3 years, and give the lender 10% of the companies first 3 years earnings. My goal in the first year for the company is to do $1.3 mill. in sales and $425,000 in installation. I’m sorry for the novel I just published to you ha ha, but I had to get it out.

    Thank you for your time

    Hello,

I am in need of a $17,000 loan. I was in the Air Force for 5 years before I got hurt. I was medically discharged with only 10% disability so I was not able to draw from the VA. I had a very hard time finding a job and got really far behind on my bills. I now have a job and am trying to get caught up. It has been more difficult than I thought. I am making around 54k a year now, but have way too many bills to make a dent. The loans would pay off my credit cards and 2 personal loans I have. I would be greatly appreciative for any assistance that I may get. I will be more than happy to set up an automatic payment from my bank or an auto debit coming from your bank. I live in Alabama. Thank you for any help you can give.

    Greetings,

I would like a 25000 loan to pay off my credit card bills, I had worked very hard in bring my credit score up after the divorce. Then the company I worked for went bankrupt and closed. Being a partially disabled veteran, it took me 2 1/2 years to find a job. All the effort I had put in repairing the credit was shot. I had a friend help me get two of the credit cards, one as a joint account and 1 as an authorized user. Now she is suing me since I am far behind on the payments. The credit card companies will not make reasonable payments. I do not want to go bankrupt and include my friend in the mix. I had to use the credit cards to get by after the unemployment insurance ran out. It was a horrible time in my life. I want to make thing right with everyone and do not see any other way to do it. I am willing to pay high interest rates if the payments are reasonable per month. I can provide personal references. I live in Virginia. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Jason Says:

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my story…
As I searched sites promising to help I ran across several other P2P sites promising to help. I few weeks ago I cancelled Christmas for my family and my new born granddaughter, this was the hardest thing I have EVER had to do. I followed all of the advice… “Explain to them what Christmas is truly about” blah blah blah let’s face it you tell a seven year old and a seventeen year old no Christmas! Watch the disappointment in their eyes. So I found myself searching for assistance and filled out a similar plea for help like I am doing now, only to find my junk email box full of promises from payday loan companies, folks who want to send me a check and I get to keep some then send back, you get the picture. Our world is out of control, bad stuff happening to good people more and more often. Then you find out you need credit to even get a damn job! Really… what a catch 22!!! So here I am again trying to get someone to just help me get that little proverbial push so I can get back on my feet again. Let’s see how this site works, hopefully better than the last one…
    My story:
I am a hardworking 39 year old professional. I currently work as a manger for a City Park and I manage over 4000 acres of recreational land, to include a racetrack and motorsport facility. Prior to this I was a safety manager for a facility group managing State of Colorado Facilities. That’s when things went terribly wrong. I went through a divorce, my ex-wife left me for her high school love, and they took everything. I was so taken and desperate I didn’t really fight! I lost everything, the house to a foreclosure, car to her and everything went to collections. Obviously this torched my credit! I was then laid off like 90% of the stories you hear on here… so you probably have heard this one before. Now that I am back on my feet I need to get caught up. I am a fulltime municipal government employee; I make $55000 a year. I can make payments; I can pay my bills… I need a nudge; I have no credit cards and a vehicle that barely gets around… I need to get my vehicle repaired ($1700) need to get caught back up on rent as I did get behind a month and half ($3000) and then the kicker… my fiancé needs a medical procedure that will be limited covered by insurance. She has epilepsy that seems to no longer respond to medication and they will be performing surgery to implant a device (this was why we cancelled Christmas, and got behind on rent) she spent several days in NICU and was on a ventilator! The device getting implanted will require us to pay nearly $4000! I obviously cannot get traditional loans! I NEED HELP! JUST A PUSH! I CAN REPAY! Please if anyone can help I appreciate it. I am a genuine human being and I just need that one or two people to give me an opportunity. I will provide any proof; I will be willing to sign contracts! I just don’t want to waste time with a bunch of scammers so please do not give me false hope! God Bless!

My name is Liz. My husband and I are trying to purchase our first home for our family, however, because the government took away the ability for the seller to help with the down payment of the house, we are struggling to come up with the amount that we need. I am looking for a loan around $10,000 to help with this. We would be able to pay you back in monthly installments over 72 months and are even willing to pay up to 20% interest. This would make our monthly payments $166.66 per month. If we are able to, we would send you more each month to be able to pay you off sooner as well. I know that this is something we could do. Right now we are paying $1400 monthly for “rent” and would like to get away from that. If we purchased the home, our monthly payments would only be $1100 so the other $300 would be available to pay you back plus help with home expenses. I live in Wisconsin. I would like to be able to secure this loan within the next 6 months.

Thank you for your time and interest.

My husband and I have both been out of work since 2008. I just recently got a part-time job and my husband will soon start his new job. We have gotten so far behind with our bills and we need to move because the house we have rented is falling apart around us. We need a loan of $50,000.00 to get us into a house and pay off our debts. We would like to consolidate this into one bill and have one monthly payment. We don’t use credit cards anymore because that is one of the things that got us into trouble. We really need someone to help us. I am looking to go back to school, college to earn my degree and it would really help if, I didn’t have to worry about my bills the way I do right now. My husband and I have made stead payments every month on our rent. We have never missed our rent. We pay $425.00 every month on time. We don’t have a car payment and our utilities are paid for. We are willing to pay a higher interest rate to get the money for the house we found and to consolidate the payments of the house and our bills into 1 payment per month. I live in Kentucky and would appreciate the help. My husband and I will work really hard to keep up our month payments. Please, please help us. Thank you!

Hi, my name is Dustin and my wife and I are starting to flip some houses as a business. We are looking for a lender to help us get going using the house and the deal as equity. We will be getting the house at about 60% of after repair value so should be very little risk to lender. My wife and I make over 200,000 per year and both have great credit 850s. We own our house now and will be looking to borrow 100,000 150,000. Interest rate is not as important to us as we will be flipping the houses fast.

I am currently in need of help through a loan, NOT A HAND OUT. I have five children and I need $55,000.00 which will be used to move into a house/expenses (paying old bills here and turning on the new ones in the new town) and to pay off some debt (student loans, which in my opinion is a good debt as opposed to credit card). I have extinguished every option available (sometimes talking to the same company x3 and not realizing it). I have a fair – good credit score but because I am not able to work (due to lack of jobs in my area) I have a limited income I can do anything with. The move will allow me obtain work because there are more than plenty of business hiring at the moment (I have applications in)and will also help me to cut cost of living down as well. I am able to pay back these loans every month and will disclose further details with lender (not a scam artist) from this point for privacy purposes. I just would like to become self sufficient again, get off welfare, and take care of my family as it should be. I am not one of those people trying to drain society and just need a chance to get on track.

$12,000 loan needed – can repay completely withinin 30 days.
I am trying to put my life back in order, hard worker with solid career that got into a money bind. I want to get all of my credit cards and behind bills paid in full to start with a clean slate. I am looking for $8000 to make this all happen. Without explaining my entire history I have been struggling the past two years because I went in over my head helping my neice and nephew with money after their Mother (my Sister) passed away. Because I have been struggling lately I cannot get an $8000 loan because of my poor credit. However, I can get a loan from my 401K plan but need to pay off that loan first (The one that started this all). The payoff amount of my loan is $12,000, after the loan is payed off, I can reapply for another loan 15 days later. I will take that loan out for $20,000 pay back the $12,000 and get my $8000 to pay off my bills and be ahead. I have a good career as a Clinical Specialist and will be getting a raise in May, I currently make close to 6 figures a year and with my slowly paying off my long term debt I will finally be on my feet and start saving and making my credit score continue to rise.
I am very serious about this and hope to find someone who is willing to help me.
