These grants and loans are provided whenever it’s deemed that public health and safety are in imminent peril if an event were to occur making the public vulnerable in large numbers.

An example of a CDC emergency preparedness funding would be the 10.9 (11,000,000 dollars) million dollars awarded to Preparedness Research Centers at Seven Schools of Public Health which happened in October of 2008.
