If you are a student needing a loan and going to school in B.C. (British Columbia) you may not want a government grant hanging over your head.
If are currently going to, or planning to go to a school with some sort of student loan, university, or tech college in Canada, you will likely be attracted to B.C. I would know because I lived and went to school in Victoria and lived in Vancouver.
There are other schools and universities in B.C. you may be interested in as well, such as the Northern University of British Columbia (UNBC). They have a good student loan page worth checking out. They have student loan info for United States students as well. Cool huh?!
If you want to go to UBC (University of British Columbia) they have allot of info regarding student aid on their site as well, and but you would be best to check out the government of British Columbia web site for student aid (they call student loans “student aid” in Canada)
Another very popular school in B.C. is BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology). You can find student loans for BCIT as well if you go through the B.C. Government, but I would start by reading the BCIT PDF on student loans and aid. There is some really good reading on this PDF for anyone looking for ANY kind of student loan, or going to ANY school British Columbia.
Going To School or University On Vancouver Island
Many students long to go to school on the Island. Usually in Victoria at UVIC because of the beautiful scenery and the beautiful city. This is where I went to tech school after I graduated from high school – I went to Camosun College. If I was a young student looking for a financial aid in the form of a loan, I would be enrolling at UVIC. The campus is gorgeous and the professors are usually of the highest level because of the beautiful city and surroundings. Some of the best and brightest flock to UVIC for employment and enrollment.
The government of B.C. provides for student loans when going to UVIC. You can read that on the UVIC web site here.
Other Options For Student Loans In B.C.
Canadian Banks With Branches in B.C.
What if you don’t want anything to do with a B.C. government student loan, and want a simple student loan from a bank or lender. You will need to check out some of the local Canadian banks in B.C., like the Royal Bank, TD Canada Trust, HSBC, Scotiabank, and C.I.B.C.
Private Student Loans in B.C.
If you don’t want a student loan through the B.C. Government or through a Canadian bank (through a personal line of credit) you can look for a private lender. I would start with going to the BCSL Service Bureau web site.
Outside of the site above, there are not allot of private choices for student loan in B.C. – BUT I would go through the Canadian Federation of Students web site.
